I never knew there was a Simpson’s version I played with one that had a more elaborate mansion and extra players. Any variation of Clue I so wanted to buy. My nephew tho would yell out the cards during play. We had to occupy him.
Yeah there was one actually, where you had to figure out who killed Mr. Burns. Homer and Marge were Mr. Green and Mrs. Peacock, Bart and Lisa were Professor Plum and Miss Scarlett, Smithers was Mrs. White and Krusty was Colonel Mustard. I think it even took place in the nuclear power plant instead of a mansion too.
I have heard about there being versions with more characters! Like Mr. Grey and Miss Peach I believe? I didn’t know it came with a more elaborate mansion, that’s so cool! Bless your nephew too, I still just find that adorable.
The Simpsons one sounds so funny. What were the rooms?
There was Mr. Grey, Miss Peach, Madame Rose, and Monsieur Brunette as examples. The mansion was expanded to have a carriage house and gazebo with more locations.
My nephew learned the kitchen card first and would blurt it out. Then he learned ball room and gun. My best friend, at the time, had a set with missing pieces so she’d bring that for him to play with he liked the color pawns and pretended they were people and put them in his toy cars. Afterwards we’d play with the pawns and bring in his Sesame Street Little People set. We didn’t want to confuse him with the more complicated color names so Mr. Plum was just Purple.
I had to look up the game to remember and the rooms were Homer’s office at the power plant, Mr/ Burn’s office, the Bowl-a-Rama, Kiwk-E-Mart, the Simpson family’s living room, the Flying Dutchman restaurant, the Android’s Dungeon, Krusty’s filming studio and another one I can’t place right now. I forgot the weapons were personalized too, so you had a poisoned donut, a plutonium rod and Lisa’s saxophone among others.
That’s so cool regarding those added characters! I have to laugh at one of the bonus rooms being a gazebo cause you know what that makes me think of. “A GAZEBO, BEN???” LMAO
Well your nephew is not alone because, honestly, I used to play with the pieces from my Simpsons set back in the day and act out conversations with them…I wasn’t that creative to put them in cars or anything haha! Bringing up the complicated names reminds me of how I used to wonder why Mrs. Peacock was that instead of Mrs. Blue. I get a peacock was a blue bird, but Blue or some shade of that would have gone along with the rest of them being the color or the shade of a color haha.
The Simpsons Clue sounds so cool. OMG a poison donut. Well Apu would never let you kill someone at the Kwik-E Mart. It would be bad for business. Now I want.
If I played that version of Clue I wouldn’t be able anymore to think the gazebo was the site of the murder but where the body is buried. And I’d think of Miss Scarlet as Kate Mara.
It’s fun playing with all those pieces. Often times during the game we’d give them personalities and romances. Sometimes we’d couple the male characters. That’s what we did before internet slash.
I didn’t understand it at first either and apparently when Clue was first developed describing a certain hue as ‘peacock blue” or just “peacock” was common. It was understood but over the decades that shade was called other things. I learned it as “electric blue.”
With my nephew we called it all the basics.
It WAS very cool, I wish I still had it but my mom gave it away to another family. The poison donut is actually one of the details I clearly remember too. If only Apu was among the characters! I would have loved if he and Mrs. Krabappel were among the roster.
To be honest, we never were shown what happened to Mr. Boddy’s body, we just know he was killed. He totally could have been buried underneath the gazebo. Kate Mara as Miss Scarlett is sooo fitting too. :)
I cackled soooo hard at that pre-dating slash joke. I can just imagine you putting some of them together, and the odd one out has to be in a threeway or if the women aren’t paired, with the odd woman out haha! I always gave them personas too, though never attached them.
Thank you explaining the Peacock name to me, though I’m probably still going to personally refer to her by basic “Mrs. Blue” since it makes more sense for me haha.
It’s one of these things where I wish it would be reissued or someone has it on ebay. It sounds so fun. Altho side eying no Apu or Mrs. Krabappel.
I took it to understand Mr. Boddy was found in the cellar where everyone starts the game.
LOL. That’s what we did with odd person. We had a scenario where Miss Scarletwas a temptress and she fell for the proper and demure Mrs. Peacock. Professor. Plum was having an affair with Mr. Green and Col. Mustard but the last two didn’t know about it. When there was more characters Sgt. Grey fell for the effeminate artist M. Brunette. Altho she was Madame Rose, the gypsy, we refashioned her as Mama Rose, the leather-clad biker mom of Axl Rose. We basically gave her a character not unlike Gemma Teller. Imagine why I had to see SoA.
My nephew actually still calls her Mrs. Blue.
